Net2 Provides Streamlined Security for Marlow Rowing Club Members

Founded in 1871, Marlow Rowing Club is on the River Thames in Marlow, England. The club is one of the main rowing clubs in England and is also shared with canoeists, swimmers and triathletes, gaining access at different times. The clubs members have represented Great Britain in the Olympics on numerous occasions. The clubhouse and boat sheds had to be rebuilt after they were seriously damaged by a fire in 2011. Following a grant from Sport England and fundraising by its members the premises were finalised in 2014.

Requirements

Marlow Rowing Club contacted Oakpark Alarms Security Services Ltd. to provide a solution, to keep track of who is using the facilities and when, manage 400 membership subscriptions and secure the clubs property including the boat sheds and gym. Peter Hunt, Chairman of Marlow Rowing Club says: “In the old clubhouse we had only keypads securing the doors; anyone who had the code could access the building meaning it wasn’t the most secure solution. We have a lot of junior members and didn’t want them in the clubhouse unsupervised, to ensure their safety.”

Solution

Adrian Goosey, a Director from Oakpark, was responsible for overseeing the project. Established in 1985, Oakpark is a family run business that specialises in security, fire and automated access. Adrian Goosey says: “When we met with Peter and saw the site it was clear that an access control system would suit the club more, offering them greater flexibility and security. We have installed Paxton on numerous sites and knew it would be perfect.” Marlow Rowing Club are using Net2 to connect the boat sheds, gym and clubhouse to one network administering the system from one PC, making the system easy to manage. For extra convenience Oakpark installed an LCD reader branded with Marlow’s logo at the front and back of the site to monitor the different clubs and their members. This has made it simpler to monitor who has used the facilities and when, without them having to enter the clubhouse. Net2 is a user-friendly and flexible networked access control system, designed to make the management of any building simple. Easy to use and with excellent features, Net2 access control moves beyond the basics of managing the flow of people around a building, offering benefits like building control and system integration. It is perfectly suited to a leisure facility as it’s easily scalable with up to 1,000 doors on one system allowing for the system to develop and grow with the club.

Result

Since Net2 was installed at Marlow, the site has been regularly updated as and when required. It is running on the latest version of the Net2 software, with features that allow management to create custom days and timezones for when the club has one off events or timetabled classes on site. The benefit of these time management features means that the site can control access for members at different times of the day without the need for a manned reception, for example members only have access to the rowing sheds in their allocated time slot.
